Fiona's Slough Survey revealed nearly 2:1 against Heathrow expansion
Fiona commissioned a telephone survey on the eve of her 21 February consultation meeting in Slough about the future of Heathrow Airport. She asked people to tell her their views on Heathrow expnsion plans. Over 850 people, one in three of those contacted, gave their opinion.
537 people (62%) said no to further growth at Heathrow. 328 people (38%) support it.
Fiona Mactaggart said, "This survey, the largest that has been conducted locally, shows a clear majority against the proposals for expansion of the airport. In Slough we know that Heathrow is crucial to jobs but we also want our needs to be properly considered in future plans. That is what I have been telling the government. They have not done that yet. I have presented the results of my survey to Ruth Kelly, Secretary of State for Transport.”
